Situated on the River Maigue , Adare is regarded as one of Ireland’s prettiest villages. The picturesque thatched cottages , which were built in the 19th century as tenant dwellings by the 3rd Earl of Dunraven , have a distinct English character.

The 12th century Augustinian and 13th century Trinitarian Church of Ireland and Catholic churches. The village boasts a selection of antique and craft shops but probably the best known is Micheline and George Stacpoole’s outlet. The Inn Between , the Mustard Seed , and the Maigue Restaurant are all good choices for food.

Adare is a real hidden gem and is worth a visit on your Ireland tours.
