County Kilkenny is in south east Ireland , and if you are planning tours of Ireland to take in the south east , it offers the finest of the countryside in that area of Ireland.
Mostly it is intensely pretty , rich farmland. Especially to the north of New Ross around the confluence of the Nore and Barrow rivers.
But sometimes the south east is ignored on Ireland tours….and that is a mistake…… as there are some great hidden gems.
Medieval ruins are scattered all over that part of the country but they are concentrated around the ancient town of Kilkenny. It is a quaint and bustling place and Ireland finest medieval town.
Visit Kells Priory or Jerpoint Abbey and marvel at these medieval gems.
The South Leinster Way offers an option for a walking tour that takes you through pretty riverside villages such as Inistioge , Graiguenamanagh , and Borris and St Mullins (what a great name!!)
Have a look at the south east of Ireland…….you wont be disappointed !!
