Three Castle Head

Three Castle Head

The imposing ruins of Dunlough Castle stand on a Western promontory of the Mizen peninsula and is worth a stop on your tours of Ireland.

On one side of it 300ft cliffs plummet down to the sea , while on the other side a pretty lake gives it quite a different character. The castle was one of a number built here by the warring O’Mahoney clan from 1200 to 1500.  It was once formed by three buildings joined together , hence its English name.

Three Castle Head is a real hidden gem and should be visited on your Ireland tours.
