29 Oct Glencar Lake , County Sligo
Glencar Lake is in County Sligo and well worth a wee look on any tours of Ireland.
There is a lake and beautiful waterfalls and you will not be disappointed at these hidden gems.
A side turning off the Sligo/Manorhamilton road runs along the north shore of the lake. Its a really nice drive.
South of the wooded valley in which the lake lies , the mountains rise over 300m/985ft. While to the north the mountains rise more distantly to 600m/1970ft.
Looking along the lake is a flat parcelled – up valley facing the sea at Drumcliff.
The waterfall at the east end of the lake inspired Yeats’ poem “The Stolen Child”….have a read !!
So…if your Ireland tours take you in the direction of County Sligo do visit Glencar Lake.
