This is a wee bit off the beaten path on any tours of Scotland.
It is a town on the island of Islay.
Islay is world famous for its malt whiskey, and there are several distilleries to visit.
The likes of Laphroaig, Lagavullin, Ardbeg are all worth a try.
Just for a few wee drams of course!
There is an interesting, and very straight, road from Port Ellen to Bowmore.
This was originally designed as a rail track but then became a road.
There are fine hiking trails around the town ranging from easy walking to more difficult going.
As you can imagine the scenery is spectacular.
On the peninsula of Oa, which culminates at the Mull of Oa, check out the high cliffs.
There are memorials on the cliffs
These honour American sailors and troops who drowned in the sinkings of the Tuscania and Otranto in 1918.
