Waterford, Ireland

Waterford is widely known as the place of “glassmakers to the world”.

It is an interesting stop on any tours of Ireland.

We usually visit Waterford when we travel to and from Cork/Kinsale.

But there is so much more to Waterford than just glassmaking, and we like to show that to clients on our luxury, private tours.

The port of Waterford dates back to the towns 9th century origins and its Medieval past.

It was originally a Viking settlement and developed from that.

Reginalds tower was said to have been built by Reginald the Dane in the 11th century and was part of a fortified wall around the settlement.

It is 73 feet high with walls 12 feet thick and now contains many historical artefacts.

The Medieval Museum is definitely worth a visit and really explains the history of Waterford with some fascinating exhibits.

There are a number of ruined churches and those that are not in ruins to enjoy.
