This castle is in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

It has been the vacation castle for the Royal Family since 1852.

The estate first shows up in records in 1484 as the property belonged to the Gordons.

Stonework is light grey Invergelder granite quarried within the estate.

It is said to be the finest stonework in Scotland.

 

The grounds extend to a massive 24,000 acres.

It includes Lochnagar, Broad Cairn, and Loch Muick.

There is also a famous deer forest at Balmoral.

The castle grounds are open to the general public during the months of May, June, and July.

That is except when the royal family is in residence.
