The largest town on the Ring of Kerry , the scenic circuit of the Iveragh Peninsula , with some spectacular stages on the road to Glenbeigh Glencar. You will probably visit on Ireland tours as the Ring of Kerry is a must see attraction…but look out for the hidden gems.

North-West of Caherciveen is Leacanabuaile stone fort , which is 9th Century.

From Kingstown there is a ferry to Valentia Island with its cliffs , tropical vegetation and seascapes . Boats from Valentia Island to the Skelligs – jagged rocks nine miles out to sea shows how the Skellig Michael (The Great Rock) rises massively to over 200m ; stone steps lead up to a deserted monastery with a lighthouse below.
