Clifden , County Galway

A popular town with a selection of lively pubs and restaurants. Clifden is sited at the Northern end of Clifden Bay , the Twelve Pins provide a spectacular scenic backdrop to the town. There is a choice of strands and sheltered coves for bathing within walking distance.

Just North from the town is a 14ft monument in the shape of an aircraft’s tail fin juts out from the bog. This marks the spot where John Alcock and Arthur Whitten Brown crash-landed at the end of their first transatlantic flight in 1919.
