This is a beautiful Victorian property near Castlerea , County Roscommon , Ireland.

It was built in the mid-19th Century to replace an earlier 17th Century house.

 

Its setting in extensive parkland makes it worth a visit on any tours of Ireland.

 

It was occupied by the O’Connor’s, descendants of Roderick O’Connor who was King Of Connacht.

Roderick died in 1198.

The family has a very interesting history.

 

Check out the drawing room , and the library with over 5000 books.

There are many important manuscripts and diaries in that library.

 

There is also a private chapel with a set of vestments dating from around 1722.

 

The billiards room is now a museum and has some interesting and significant exhibits.

 

There are 5 bedrooms on the first floor open to the public.
