05 Nov Dublin Castle
A really famous castle in Ireland and well worth seeing on Ireland tours.
It is situated right in the heart of Dublin.
Parts of this imposing castle date from the 13th century when it formed the setting for King John (of England) Dublin Court.
The Castle is much changed from its medieval origins and most of the buildings date from the late 17th and 18th centuries.
The building remains to this day a symbol of former British rule in Ireland.
But it is now used as a venue for Irish state occassions and ceremonial events , such as presidential inaugrations.
Without doubt a must see on any tours of Ireland.
It is even possible to extend Belfast tours to take in Dublin as access is easy.
