22 Dec Dunguaire Castle, County Galway
This castle sits on a spectacular site on the shores of Galway Bay.
Dunguaire Castle can be found outside the little village of Kinvara.
It is definitely worth a stop on any tours of Ireland, and is said to be one of the most photographed castles in Ireland.
It is a sixteenth century building, built in 1520 by the O’Hynes clan.
It is an imposing tower house and in very good condition.
Being inside gives you the real feeling of history and you can imagine how life was in the castle.
From mid-April to mid-October each year, the castle hosts medieval banquets.
Guests can enjoy a delicious four course meal and fine wines.
They will be entertained by songs, stories of Ireland and the poems of the Irish.
We had clients who particularly enjoyed smoked salmon, guinea fowl, and Spanish wine.
