06 Dec Guthrie, Angus
This is a nice village in Scotland, sitting on the North East part of the Sidlaw Hills.
It is on the left bank of Lunan Water.
It is a good stop on any tours of Scotland as Guthrie Castle is very interesting.
The castle stands near the village and was built in 1468 by Sir David Guthrie.
It has been inhabited by the Guthrie family ever since.
The castle has a massive square tower which is 60 feet tall.
The walls are 10 feet thick.
It was enlarged and repaired in 1848.
Guthrie Castle contains some fine paintings, including some medieval murals.
The gardens are very nice indeed.
Also look at Saint Marys Church dating from 1479.
