Inch Kenneth, Isle of Mull

If you are interested in hidden gems, then this is a great place to visit on any tours of Scotland.

Inch Kenneth is a tiny island off the West coast of Mull.

But it has a great significance in Christian history.

After Saint Columba had established Christianity at Iona Inch Kenneth became one of its first dependencies.

You can still see the ruins of a Culdee foundation and a Celtic Cross which is very old.

The island was raided many times by Vikings and involved in Scottish clan warfare.

So, there were some tumultuous and violent times in its history.

There is a restored 19th century house.

The few inhabitants still on the island are now engaged in sheep farming and fishing.

The water around the island is astonishingly clear.
