Kinsale, County Cork

This is a well-known village with locals in the South of Ireland.

It is a great stop on any tours of Ireland, and has a few good hotels.

The general area, and in particular Kinsale, was the scene of fierce battles in the 17th century.

The Spanish sought to break the English rule in Ireland.

Mackerel fishing along the coast around Kinsale is now one of its main industries.

It can be eaten in the local restaurants and is very tasty.

Check out Mulrose Church and its tower dating from the 12th century.

The French prison tower in Cork Street is also worth a look.

A definite must see, is Charles Fort, just outside of the village.

It dates from the 16th century and is a large and impressive star fort.

Kinsale has some great restaurants and pubs, and a lot of live Irish music.
