Kirriemuir, Angus

This is a small, quaint town in Angus, Scotland.

It is of interest on any tours of Scotland, but also has a dark past.

It has picturesque narrow streets and was once noted for its weavers.

Kirriemuir has a dark history of accusations of witchcraft.

These date back to the 16th century.

There is a pond on the outskirts of the town that is still known as the Witch Pool.

Nearby Airlie Castle has beautiful gardens.

The castle burned in 1641, but was rebuilt in 1793.

The small town is famous as the birthplace of J.M Barrie in 1860.

He was the author of Peter Pan.

His house is still in the town and can be visited as it is maintained by the National Trust for Scotland.
