25 Oct Limavady
The drive towards the town of Limavady passes through attractive scenery.
The town has one of the best claims to fame in all of Ireland.
It was the home of Jane Ross who lived at 51 Main Street.
In 1851 she had the presence of mind to jot down a tune from an itinerant fiddler.
This became the hauntingly beautiful “Londonderry Air” , also known as “Danny Boy”.
It is probably the best known and best loved melody in the entire Irish repertoire.
Listen to the tune on any Ireland tours and soak up the atmosphere.
