21 Oct Lisdoonvarna , County Clare
The town is famous for its unique mineral waters , containing sulphur and lithium , iron and manganese. Here you can sample the revolting sulphur water – ‘eggy water’ – at the Pump House. People have come here to ‘take the waters’ since the 18th century.
The town is probably best known these days for its annual Matchmaking Festival in September. Young and old enjoy the music , late night pub openings and dances while the serious business of matrimonial offers is carried out on the sidelines.
Lisdoonvarna is a real hidden gem that is worth a visit on your tours of Ireland.
