Lumsden, Aberdeenshire

Lumsden, Aberdeenshire

This village is situated in Aberdeenshire.

It is situated in a beautiful setting and has some interesting sights.

So definitely worth a stop on any tours of Scotland.

Nearby there was a monastery said to have been founded by Saint Moluag from Lismore.

Also, there is an ancient manorial and church centre.

The Motte of Auchindoir is in the area.

This was an earth and timber fortress of the Comyns.

That is where the original kirk of Auchindoir sat.

In the 13th century a beautiful stone church replaced the original kirk.

The ruins still remain.

Craig Castle is further up the Den of Craig.

This was a massive L shaped tower house.
