06 Dec Muckross House, County Kerry
This is a nineteenth century mansion idyllically situated in Killarney National Park.
When on tours of Ireland we always look at the house and the nearby Muckross Abbey.
The house was built 1843 by the Herbert family.
It has 100 rooms.
The main entrance can be accessed by jaunting cars , and we encourage our clients to try this mode of transport.
The hallway is dominated by the huge antlers of a prehistoric deer.
The wooden staircase is both magnificent and imposing.
Also worth seeing is the dining room with its stunning fireplace.
Muckross House has a splendid library and drawing room.
They convey the elegance of the time.
The gardens are also worth walking around.
