26 Sep Skibbereen , County Cork
A lively West Cork town which has become the agricultural and industrial centre for the area. Skibbereen is home to a growing community of artists , craftworkers and writers , many from Continental Europe , who use the West Cork Arts Centre on Main St as a focal point.
There is a small local folk museum at St. Fachna’s High School. The town newspaper , the Skibbereen Eagle , became famous at the turn of the century for a vociferous editorial which ended with the warning , ‘The Skibbereen Eagle has its eye on the Czar of Russia’!
Skibbereen is a hidden gem and a must see on your Ireland tours.
