Tipperary Highlights

If you find yourself in this area on any tours of Ireland here are a few highlights to see.

The first recommendation is the ruins of Nenagh Castle.

The castle served as the main seat of the Butler family until 1391.

After that they moved to Gowran , County Kilkenny.

The family would later acquire Kilkenny Castle.

There is also the Church of Lorrha to visit.

The church is probably built on the site of the early monastery founded by Ruadhán in 540 AD.

The church was constructed from roughly coursed cyclopean masonry.

Roscrea Castle was built by King John in 1213.

The castle is a 13th-century motte-and-bailey castle in the town of Roscrea.

The Castle consists of a walled courtyard, gate block, and angled towers.
