09 Nov Waterford, County Waterford
Waterford is most famous for its Crystal.
It will be mentioned on any tours of Ireland as such.
But the city has a fascinating history.
It is set on the South bank of the River Suir and was founded by the Normans.
Right on the quay is the ancient Reginalds Tower, dating from 1003.
That takes its name from Ragnvald, son of Sitrig the Viking.
It just sits in the main street amongst the local shops.
There is now a fantastic museum in the heart of the city opposite the Waterford Crystal showroom.
We certainly recommend that you visit this when in Waterford.
It is also worth looking at Saint Olafs Church, founded in 870, rebuilt in Normand times, and restored in 1734.
Waterford has so much more to offer than its famous crystal.
At Ireland and Scotland Luxury Tours we can ensure that you see all that Ireland has to offer.
