Waterville is the halfway point in the Ring of Kerry and you may visit on Ireland tours.
It is set in rich , flat farmland encircled by mountains , overlooking the curved sandy beach of Ballinskelligs Bay .
The hamlet has a reputation as one of the most expensive places in Ireland .
Ballinskelligs village is on the opposite side of of the Bay and is Irish-speaking .
Lough Currane at the back of Waterville is rich in archaeological remains – St Finan’s 6th Century oratory on Church Island , a drowned castle , the Baslicon Dolmen (grave of a daughter of Milesius , a prehistoric invader) and horseshoe shaped Beenbane Fort at its Western shore……………. Some real hidden gems !!!!!
