Coleraine is a town on the North coast of Ireland.
Most of the interesting action takes place down the River Bann, where there are pleasant walks and a thriving marina , and at the University of Ulster campus with its excellent Riverside Theater.
If you are on any Ireland tours then there is something worth seeing…….A mile south of Coleraine , on the eastern bank of the river , Mountsandel is a 200 foot mound , apparently the earliest known dwelling place in Ireland , though the discoveries in Boora Bog in County Offaly must run a fairly close second. The post-holes and hearths of the wooden houses that once stood here have been dated around 7000 BC.
