Tulliallan was an estate and is worth a visit on any tours of Scotland.
It is close to Kincardine.
There are the ruins of a castle that was the seat of the Blackadder family.
It is an early fourteenth century hall-house.
There is a splendid under-croft, rib-vaulted ceiling spanning from the central piers.
That was added in the sixteenth century.
The castle was inhabited until 1662.
The existing mansion house, also called the castle, was built in 1820 by Admiral Lord Keith.
It is an odd combination of styles. Part Tudor, part Gothic, part Regency, and part Victorian.
But it works and is very pleasing to look at.
There is a park surrounding the mansion house spanning 88 acres.
There is also a golf course.
