Limerick, County Limerick

This is a major city in the south of Ireland.

It is an interesting stop on any tours of Ireland.

Danish Vikings founded Limerick 1,000 years ago.

The city walls are still partially preserved.

King Johns Castle, which stands directly above the Shannon River is very interesting.

It is also known as Limerick Castle

It is a 13th-century castle, although the site dates back to 922 when the Vikings landed on the Island.

The castle was built on the orders of King John of England in 1200.

Saint Marys Cathedral is well worth a visit.

The choir stalls are particularly remarkable and are carved from black oak.

Portions of the church date from 1180.

It is also worth taking a look at the ruins of Desmond Castle which date from 1199.

Only the large hall I well preserved.
