22 Oct Killaloe and Ballina
Killaloe in County Clare is joined by a graceful arched bridge over the River Shannon to Ballina in County Tipperary.
Ballina in particular is a real hidden gem worth a visit on any tours of Ireland.
There is fishing , sailing , and cruising available at this beautiful location on the exit of the Shannon from Lough Derg. The shores are gently wooded .
Take a look at Saint Flannans Cathedral and its Romanesque architecture and nearby is the shaft of a cross bearing runic and ogham insciptions.
On the West side of Lough Derg there are two pretty little villages … Mountshannon and Scarriff.
Scarriff has a little harbour and nearby is a fort called Beal Boru from which the famous Brian Boru took his name.
Also nearby are the Arra Mountains.
So plenty to see on your Ireland tours !!!!
