Cushendall and Cushendun, County Antrim

Cushendall and Cushendun, County Antrim

The seaside towns mark the ends of the Glens of Antrim and are a picturesque sight and are a must see on your Ireland tours.

The grave of the Celtic poet Ossian is just above Cushendall. There are nine glens in all, curving down to the sea from the moorland plateau of the Antrim Mountains. Each is broken up into small fields for sheep farming , a personal idyll below the bogs and moors , with five forests and forest parks.

Cushendall is considered the ‘capital of the glens’ , but Glenarm can claim to be the prettiest of the glen villages , and Glenariff which terminates at Waterfoot and is generally accepted  as the prettiest of the glens.

The most striking parts of the coast road are between Cushendall and Glenarm and are worth seeing on your tours of Ireland.
