This is an elegant castle situated in Clonegall in the province of Leinster.
It is worth looking at on any tours of Ireland.
The castle was built in 1625 by Lord Esmond.
It occupies the site of a monastery.
Little remains of the monastery except a 600-year-old Yew Walk.
The branches of the yews curve over to form a spectacular tunnel.
A vine that grows vigorously in the conservatory originates from a cutting that was given to Ann Boleyn.
And was one of the wives of King Henry the Eighth and she lived between 1507 to 1536.
It was given to her by the infamous Cardinal Wolsey.
The castle was occupied by Cromwell’s men in the 1640s.
Huntington also offers connections to the Egyptian goddess Isis.
The owner of the castle founded the fellowship of Isis in 1976 and shrines to the goddess have been set up in the cellars.
