13 Sep Carnlough, County Antrim
This is a beautiful village on the famous coast road in the North of Ireland.
It has a fine little harbour and a white bridge built in 1854 running over its main street.
This used to carry limestone from the quarries to waiting boats in the harbour.
It is an unusual piece of architecture.
On the main street is the “Londonderry Arms Hotel”, once owned by Winston Churchill.
The hotel dates from 1854 and is very unique, retaining the charms of an old coaching inn.
At Ireland and Scotland Luxury Tours we always try and stop at the hotel.
Not just for the history – the home-made scones are out of this world!
Carnlough is worth a stop on any tours of Ireland.
