20 Mar Day six of our Ireland tour
We have decided to do a live blog on one of our Ireland tours as it happens….it might be an interesting exercise !!!
Today after another great breakfast at Sheen Falls Lodge we drove our clients to Tralee ( the home of the Rose of Tralee festival / beauty pageant ).
Tralee is the starting point for our tour of the Dingle Peninsula. For me this is a must see on any tours of Ireland !!
We drove down to Castlegregory in the beautiful Tralee Bay and had a coffee and the home made scones….again !!
Then it was on through Stradbally and over the stunning , but dangerous , Conor Pass straight into Dingle. Its better to use this pass only with an experienced driver and suitable vehicle.
Lunch at a local cafe that we use allowed our guests to try the fabulous seafood chowder and home made bread.
In the afternoon we visited Dunbeg Fort , which dates from 500 BC and sits on a cliff top with stunning views.
Then it was on to the real hidden gems….the Beehive Huts ……. which have stood for over 4,000 years. They were inhabited in ancient times until about 1200 AD. Dont miss them on your Ireland tours !!!
Then it was a pleasant drive around the shores of Dingle Bay and back to Kenmare. We actually came through Killarney National Park again as the clients had really enjoyed that drive before.
