04 Jul Hopetoun House, Edinburgh
This is one of the most notable historic family homes and well worth visiting on any tours of Scotland.
It is the seat of the Marquess of Linlithgow and sits on the outskirts of Edinburgh.
The house was built between 1699 and 1703, with an extension in 1721.
There are fine Adam interiors to be seen throughout the property.
They were designed by the famous Adams family.
The furniture is exquisite, as are the paintings within.
The gardens are formally laid out and of great interest (they were designed by the Adams family also)
The surrounding parklands are landscaped with superb vistas over the River Forth.
It is now a fantastic wedding venue and was even used while filming “Outlander”.
