09 Dec Lendalfoot, South Ayrshire
This is a tiny hamlet in Ayrshire , with less than 100 inhabitants.
It is one of the hidden gems we enjoy showing clients on tours of Scotland.
The village is situated on the inhospitable Carrick shore , near Girvan.
This is where the Lendal water enters the sea.
It used to be a favourite place for smugglers.
Now it has a few local fishermen.
Carleton Castle is a striking ruin nearby.
It is perched on a rocky ridge inland from the village.
The castle was once owned by the Lairds of Killochan.
As a ruin it is still very interesting.
