Cloghan Castle, County Galway

This is situated in County Galway and worth a stop if you are passing through on tours of Ireland.

It is believed to have been continuously inhabited since the reign of King John.

The history was as violent as many other castles in Ireland throughout the 15th, 16th, and 17th Centuries.

The castle walls are eight feet thick at the base, and there are four stone towers.

There are some beautiful items inside including paintings, armour, and carpets.

Some fine furniture can also be seen.

The woods offer stunning walks, with the Little Brosna River flowing past.

There are many wildfowl species including “Greenland Whitefronted Geese”
