Enniskillen, County Fermanagh

This town is the capital of County Fermanagh and worth visiting on any tours of Ireland.

It stands on the winding River Erne between Upper and Lower Lough Erne.

At this strategic bridgehead the Maguires built their castle in the 15th century.

Enniskillen was home to two of the most famous regiments of the British army.

The Inniskilling Fusiliers and the Inniskilling Dragoons have a rich and celebrated history.

There is a museum there now, within the castle, which is superb.

At Ireland and Scotland Luxury Tours we like to take our clients interested in military history to the museum.

It never fails to impress with its artefacts and history.

Oscar Wilde was educated at Portora Royal school in Enniskillen.

The scenery just outside of the town is simply stunning.
