Kingshouse, Stirling

This is a real hidden gem on any tours of Scotland.

Kingshouse is a hamlet in the Stirling area and sits at the head of Loch Lubnaig.

Nearby is Balquidder which is the burial place of the famous Rob Roy MacGregor.

Rob Roy was a famous Scottish outlaw who later became a Scottish folk hero.

He lies in the churchyard surrounding the now ruined parish kirk.

That church dated from 1631.

But the actual location of the grave of Rob Roy within the churchyard is unknown.

It is also worth looking at Loch Voil and Loch Doine, which are fine Highland lakes.

Their grassy margins are remarkable and sometimes the two lakes merge into one.
