Rough Castle, East Of Bonnybridge, Falkirk

Lilia at Rough Castle

This is in Stirlingshire, East of Bonnybridge.

It’s an interesting place to see on any tours of Scotland.

This fort is on Antoninus’ Wall.

It is one of the most important Roman military sites remaining in Britain.

It has a length of rampart and ditch adjacent.

The unique feature is the series of defensive pits outside the Antonine ditch.

It is on a commanding site and covers an acre of ground.

The original excavations took place in 1903 and the site is well preserved for visitors.

At Ireland and Scotland Luxury Tours we like to show our clients some Roman history.
