The Devils Punch Bowl, Killarney

Worth a visit on any tours of Ireland taking you through Killarney.

This is a deep-set tarn, 2200 feet above sea level.

It is around a quarter of a mile long and set deep down in a dark gorge.

To many the water looks eerily black. The water is icy cold with no ripples, it almost looks like it is frozen.

The Punch Bowl is said to be the crater of an extinct volcano.

It is over 700 feet deep.

It is important as it helps supply Killarney with water.

It also forms the Torc Cascade, a water falls well worth seeing on your trip.
