The Timoney standing Stones sit on top of a hill , in a labyrinth of lanes , and consist of some 300 stones and are a must see on your Ireland tours. All are about 3ft high and seem scattered at random , their origin and significance are a complete mystery. Many explanations have been put forward including Bronze Age rituals , Druidical ceremonies , even medieval follies – but no convincing explanation has been struck. They perhaps mark the places where warriors fell in some long-forgotten battle.
