Traquair House, Innerleithen

This property claims to be the oldest inhabited house in Scotland, dating from the 10th century.

Therefore, it is an interesting stop on any tours of Scotland.

It is definitely something of a hidden gem.

It sits in Peeblesshire near Inverleithen, and was originally a Royal Hunting Lodge.

Inside are examples of embroidery by Mary Queen of Scots.

In addition, there are a great many other historical treasures on view in Traquair House.

The house was originally a single tower.

But the house has been added to frequently over the centuries.

It would now be recognised as Chateau style.

Now Traquair House provides a magical and romantic venue for weddings, celebrations, and corporate events.

Throughout the year there is an inspiring programme of events and exhibitions.

You can even live like royalty and stay at Traquair in one of the luxurious antique furnished rooms.
